AAFSC Response to ICE Shooting in New York City

October 9, 2026

Yesterday afternoon, agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) opened fire on a man who had just picked up his son from school. This reckless act of violence occurred during afternoon school pickup time, leaving many other New Yorkers, including children, in danger. ICE tactics that endanger our communities cannot occur with impunity. This incident must be investigated, and agents who used excessive force must be held to account.

AAFSC has been making immigrant New Yorkers feel safe and supported since 1994. If you feel unsafe, we are here to help. Call us at 718-643-8000. If you want to support immigrant communities in New York City, reach out to us.
