Amidst the ongoing stress of COVID-19, the rise in hate crimes, and underlying poverty, racism, and trauma, NYC’s immigrant and refugee communities are experiencing an unprecedented need for mental health support. AAFSC’s mental health initiative combines community education and outreach with direct, in-language counseling support, filling a critical need for culturally and linguistically competent services that few providers are able to address.
