Nasma is 10 years old, a member of AAFSC’s Youth Program and a talented poet! Let her explain for herself.
I Am From
I am from my huge community.
I am from the school I go to.
I am from the air I breath.
I am from the streets I walk on every single day.
I am from my own imagination.
I am from Molokhia.
I am from Tabbouleh.
I am from my family. (No duh!)
I am from Syria. I am a proud Syrian and so is my dad.
I am from Tunisia. I am a proud Tunisian and so is my mom.
I am from happiness.
I am from silliness.
I am from the books I read. The education I get, the teachers who teach me.
I am from wisdom.
I am from Brooklyn. I’m a Brooklyn gal!
I am from myself.
I am from a unique family.
I am from my friends.
I am from the green, pink, red, and orange leaves that I see fall to the ground
creating one big mountain of leaves. The pile of leaves that I love to jump in.
I am from a family of style.
I am authentic.
I am Nasma!
